Stereotypes

Number 10 of Global Goals – Reduced Inequalities: Reduce Inequality in and among Countries

Everyone is guilty of forming stereotypes. But what kind of effect does this have on our society? And how can we learn to celebrate each other, and get rid of the hate.

stereotype; a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing

discrimination; the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people, especially on the grounds of race, age, or sex

refugee; a person who has been forced to leave their country in order to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster

human being; a man, woman, or child of the species Homo sapiens, distinguished from other animals by superior mental development, power of articulate speech, and upright stance.

In today’s turmoil world, let us remember the strength that we have when we stand together.

The Hijab wearing Barbie has taken social media by storm, breaking boundaries of what we expect from the famous doll, it has opened eyes to  the multi cultural world that we live in. Student Haneefa Adam, designer of this, has made a change that is much bigger than just a Barbie doll, it reflects acceptance and inclusion of different cultures, and provides young girls and boys with a new type of idol.

Bravo!

And bringing that to life…

History making hijab collection designed by Muslim fashion designer reaching New York Fashion Week back in September, really did triumph, not only for fashion but for women everywhere. Making it clear that Muslim women can be fashionable and have a right to be represented.
